A poor Alibaba brings home a bag full of gold which he discovered in a cave occupied by thieves and which can be opened by the password: “Open Sesame!” His brother Kasim goes to the cave but because of his greed he is captured by the thieves. They kill him and search for Alibaba because he knows their secret password. A female heroine is Alibaba’s slave Mardžána who finally outwits the thieves and saves Alibaba and his wife.

The intention of authors of this Naive Theatre production (which was at festivals all around the world) was to create a puppet fairy tale performed by hand puppets in a pure illusive scene. Its loose dramatization, written in slightly archaic tone, thickens a plot to a given story with humour and because of the chosen type of marionettes puts an emphasis on grotesque situations.
