PAVLIK, BOBBY AND THE GHOSTS OF THE CITY
A girl who, in the form of the Night Butterfly, glides over the city streets after dark. A rooftop fisherman casting his rod night after night from the edge of an old tenement house roof. The ghost of opera, whose singing can set things and events in motion. And also the angular Golem, the devilish Developer and above all two friends with singing talents, coincidentally the night sweepers of the city boulevards. These are just some of the unusual characters in the mysterious night time detective story Pavlik, Bobby and the Ghosts of the City.
The author and director of the production, Petr Vodička, is well known at the Naive Theatre thanks to a long series of successful titles he has staged in Liberec - Tristan and Isolde, Ginger Orm, Babu and the Parrot and others. It is the last mentioned production that Pavlik, Bobby and the Ghosts of the City even follows very loosely. This time, too, it's an original author children's whodunit which takes place in a big city at night. This time too there is a kidnapping and this time also the main characters solve everything literally by singing. Because music is not only a traditional staging device in the new production of the Naive Theatre, but also one of the strong plot motifs. The other is the city's architecture. Because the protagonists have no a less task before them than to prevent the total destruction of a beautiful historic city.
