Christmas, or the Story of the Nativity
That old story is well known to everyone, yet it is always worth revisiting. And not just at Christmas. It is the story of the birth of Baby Jesus.
Mary is expecting a baby, and poor Joseph is practically spinning from it all. An Angel announces the arrival of the Savior, while the Devil does his best to thwart their journey. And then there is the villainous King Herod, who isn't fond of the idea of a new Savior at all. We all know how the story ends. Nevertheless, it is good to retell this story from time to time. A story where good clashes with evil, dreams permeate reality, and fairy tales meet history. The story of Christmas.
This puppet production for the whole family, directed by artistic director Michaela Homolová, is based on a play by Jan Jirků that has been performed with great success at Prague's Minor Theatre for over two decades. The visual design was created by Mikoláš Zika.
